ORANI, Bataan – Bataan First District Congresswoman Geraldine B. Roman on Tuesday led the distribution of 51 pump engines to farmers from different municipalities of her district.
National Irrigation Administration (NIA) officials namely Engr. Alvin Roberto David, Miss Eden Garcia and NIA Acting Division Manager for Pampanga and Bataan Irrigation Management Office, Engr. Beverly G. Lorenzo joined Roman in the turn-over ceremony of Kubota brand pump engines. The said brand is said to be preferred by the farmers.
Roman, in her brief speech, reported the positive impact of her First Agrarian Reform Summit in the whole country held last month at the Orani Multi-Purpose Gym. The said activity, which aims to settle land disputes, will be replicated to other provinces of the Philippines.
“Kung mayroong nagtatanggol sa kapakanan ng mga investors, kailangang may magtatanggol din sa sektor ng agrikultura, at inako ko na po iyon,” Roman told the 51 farmers / beneficiaries from the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Orani, Abucay, Samal and Morong.
According to NIA, this coming December of this year, an additional 19 units of pump engines will be distributed to other farmers.
The said project aims to help the farmers affected by drought especially during the summer or dry season and also those farmlands affected by river re-channeling for the flood-control projects being constructed bu the DPWH in Hermosa, Dinalupihan and Lubao, Pampanga area.
