Ronquillo urges for ‘participatory’ form of gov’t in Sto. Tomas

Sto. Tomas mayoralty candidate Gloria “Ninang” Ronquillo over the week called for a more participatory form of government, focusing on the needs and concerns of different sectors in town.

The mayoralty aspirant added that through the participation and cooperation of the constituents, the local government unit could craft the development road map of the town. 

She said once given the chance to govern, she would implement more consultation with the women’s sector, senior citizens and the urban poor to better equip the government of the specific plans for development and support. 

Livelihood and other programs for women, social services and more scholarship programs will be her thrust in governing the town.

“The people should be part of the planning and decision making.  This will ensure that the municipal government will be able to govern well as the people are behind every government initiative,” Ronquillo added. 

The mayoralty aspirant said that the town needs benchmarking activities on the on good governance practices which include system operations, organizational structure, collection procedures, monitoring system, management policies, legislative measures, and implementation protocols among others. 

These, she added, will greatly improve government functions in the coming years. 

Meanwhile, vice mayoralty bet Jhong Naguit said that he will be advancing legislative work in the town council that will empower all sectors of the town. 

He added that his legislative agenda will compliment with Ronquillo’s to further move the town forward in terms of programs and developments.

Naguit furthered that if he is given a chance to lead as vice-mayor of the town, his work will be centered on good legislative work that is relevant and pro-active.
