Samal mayor bares economic gains

Samal Mayor Aida “Yorme” D. Macalinao bared her accomplishments under the slogan “Serbisyong May Aksyon at Malasakit.”

Mayor Macalinao’s pre-recorded 3rd town hall address was broadcasted live via the Facebook Page of Aksyon at Malasakit Para sa Samal, Bataan and watched by thousands of Samaleños here and abroad. 

Based on the records of the municipal treasury and municipal planning offices, last year 2019, a total of 607 registered business establishments were recorded.

From January to June 2020, Samal got 662 registered business establishments that resulted to P14.59 million collection.

“Inaasahan pa natin na mas marami pang mga investors ang ating maiimbitahan na mamumuhunan sa ating bayan. Sa pamamagitan nito, ito ay magbibigay oportunidad sa bawat Samalenyo na makapagtrabaho sa sarili nating bayan,” Mayor Macalinao said.

Meanwhile, Mayor Aida also reported a big increase in tricycle franchise registrations from merely 8 registrations in 2019, a total of 83 new tricycle franchises were registered for the first half of 2020.

Despite the effects of Covid-19 pandemic, for their real property tax collections, the municipal assessor’s office reported a total of P7,760,734.51 worth of collections. 

Last year, they have collected a total of P6,002,330.45 worth of RPT.
Samal LGUs approach to curb Covid-19 was also highlighted in the report. A total of 16 confirmed cases were recorded, 9 of them recovered while the other 7 patients were confined in Mariveles health facility.

Macalinao said they have effectively implemented necessary health and safety protocols to avoid more infections of Samaleños of the deadly virus.
