BALER, Aurora — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will soon commence the construction of a skatepark in Baler, Aurora.
Located in barangay Calabuanan, the P37.97-million sports facility will rise on a 6,561.10-square meter property.
Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said it will have amenities such as a spacious parking area, an administrative office and view deck, a well-lighted skatepark, a new 400 seating capacity grandstand, and a common park.
“This outdoor park is designed not only for the enjoyment of local skateboard enthusiasts but it can also be used as a venue for national skateboarding competitions,” he added.
The facility features skating obstacles for beginners, intermediate and professional skateboarders.
It will be equipped with CCTV, sound systems, water supply, standby power supply, athlete lockers and public toilets for the convenience of our athletes and park visitors.
Members of the Taga Baler Skateboarding Community (TBSC) are bound to benefit from the project.
Renzo Mark Feliciano of TBSC bagged the silver medal in the Men’s Street Skateboarding competition of the 30th Southeast Asian Games held in the Philippines last 2019.
