SM City Tarlac joined the first day of Metro Manila Shake Drill 2017 today, July 14, which will also be participated by all SM Supermalls nationwide.
The said drill seeks to simulate different scenarios such as earthquake, electric power shutdown and several fire outbreaks, which aims not just to equip and to prepare the public, but also to assess the coordination and communication mechanism of the mall management and the government on several circumstances that might transpire while conducting disaster response operations. Because catastrophes are unpredictable, they might occur anytime and anywhere.
SM City Tarlac joined hands with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC), Tarlac Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) for the drill.
Meanwhile, though the 4-day shake drill slated until July 17, SM Supermalls initiated that all provincial SM Supermalls will also participate on the first day of the simulation. This is to support the government’s
effort to educate the public on disaster preparedness and to showcase its capability on disaster response.
