Anchored on the theme “Kalayaan 2022: Pag-suong sa Hamon Ng Panibagong Bukas”, this year’s remembrance of Independence Day focuses on honoring our modern-day heroes, our frontliners, as the country continue to rise above challenges and onto new beginnings.
SM City Tarlac along with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) and Provincial Tourism Office celebrated nationalism by highlighting the flag-raising ceremony and singing of patriotic songs by Armor Pambato Division Combo of AFP on June 12, 2022.
As one of the highlights of the said celebration, the Armor Pambato Division Combo, a military band of AFP, played patriotic songs to commemorate the Philippines’ 124th year of independence from the Spanish rule since 1898.
The Philippine Independence Day is celebrated simultaneously in all SM Supermalls nationwide as part of its commitment to be with the community. Commemorating this day should be more than just raising or waving a flag, it is a reminder of how the Filipinos stood up for solidarity and their determination to claim independence which is inherent right of everyone.
