Southwest monsoon brings rains in West Luzon

MANILA – Cloudy skies will prevail in the country on Saturday, with the southwest monsoon bringing clouds and rains in the western section of Luzon.

Zambales, Bataan, and Palawan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the presence of the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) daily weather update.

For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said there will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

The weather bureau reported that as of 4 a.m., “Butchoy” was spotted 445 km. west of Northern Luzon.

Winds in the western section of Luzon will be moderate to strong and headed southwest to south, resulting in moderate to rough coastal waters at 2.8 meters to 4 meters.

 For the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, winds will be light to moderate and headed southeast to south, with slight to moderate coastal waters at 0.6 to 2.5 meters.

In Mindanao, winds will be light to moderate and headed east to southeast, with slight to moderate coastal waters at 0.6 to 2.5 meters.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 25°C to 32°C; Baguio City, 17°C to 24°C; Lipa City, 25°C to 32°C; Puerto Princesa, 25°C to 32°C; Metro Cebu, 26°C to 32°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 33°C. (PNA)
