Tarlac gov’t offers P.5M reward for arrest of Task Force member killers

TARLAC CITY — The Provincial Government of Tarlac [PGT] has offered a bounty of P500,000 for the immediate capture of the suspects in the murder of Emil Datu, a Provincial Composite Task Force [PCTF] employee. He was killed last January 12.

Datu, a resident of Barangay Cristo Rey in Capas town, was gunned down by two suspects while tending to his duties as PCTF Control Point Checker. The PCTF is in-charge mainly in the inspection of hauling permits and Delivery Receipts [DRs] of dump trucks carrying extracted loads of sand, gravel and other earth materials.

According to the Tarlac Police Provincial Office [TPPO] report, before the murder of Datu, he and several other PCTF employees have received death threats in relation to their performed functions.

“Datu and several other personnel of the provincial task force have received death threats before he [Datu] was gunned down,” said TPPO Deputy Director PSupt. Bayani Razalan.

Tarlac Governor Susan Yap has written PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group [CIDG] Director PCSupt. Amador Corpus, National Bureau of Investigation Provincial Director Alvin Rebadulla, and TPPO Director PSSupt. Jesus Rebua requesting them to conduct a thorough investigation of the case by considering that the crime may likewise be related to the performance of Datu’s job as a control point checker.

Razalan further stated that they are considering two suspects in Datu’s murder in which, according to him, the primary suspect was already identified by the police and another John Doe is yet to be identified. The Deputy TPPO Director gave no further details.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government’s Administrator Engr. Roberto Ventura and Provincial Assistant Legal Officer Atty. Warren Sarsagat said that the mechanics for the release of the reward money will be determined by the provincial government and the TPPO.

“I believe that justice always prevails and it is certain that all the authorities concerned with the investigation has the expertise, ability and capability to bring the perpetrators to justice in order to answer for the crime that was committed,” Yap said in a statement.
