Tarzan Lazatin turns 83; vows to reclaim City Hall

ANGELES CITY – Multi-awarded public servant Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, who turned 83 yesterday, declared that he will definitely run for Mayor in 2019.

“Nung eya salese ing administrasyon keng siyudad, I will definitely run for Mayor in 2019,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin said running for Mayor in 2019 is tough decision for him since he has been enjoying being retired from public service since 2013.

“It is not easy being a Public Servant. It requires a lot of sacrifices,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin said he will retain his battlecry last 2013 elections to rid Angeles City of corrupt officials and to implement efficient tax collections so as not to increase taxes.

Lazatin has also declared that if the elections will push through this October, he will also run for Balibago Barangay Captain.

“First I want to improve the Central Business district in the city and to eventually help my sons in advancing their public service careers,” Lazatin said.

Lazatin’s two sons won in May 2016 elections.

Carmelo “Jon-Jon” Lazatin II handily defeated former 1st District Rep. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao, while Angeles City Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. was re-elected overwhelmingly with 83,000 votes.

Lazatin, the only son of Pampanga Governor and Assembly Rafael Lazatin, has served the First District of Pampanga from 1987 to 2013.

He was elected Pampanga 1st District Representative from 1987 to 1998; Angeles City Mayor from 1998 to 2007 and again 1st District Representative from 2007 to 2013.

He was named most outstanding Congressman by Congress Magazine from 2008-2012 and Most Outstanding Kapampangan in the field of Public Service in 2011.
