MARIVELES, BATAAN – This month’s leg of Project Saysay displayed another profound act of kindness as employee volunteers from GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) chose 25 contractors and 5 people on the street and gave them special gifts last May 24, 2024.
The Gift of Reciprocation: How GMEC transforms birthdays into acts of kindness through Project Saysay MARIVELES, BATAAN – This month’s leg of Project Saysay displayed another profound act of kindness as employee volunteers from GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) chose 25 contractors and 5 people on the street and gave them special gifts last May 24, 2024.
All the surprises they could win by spinning the wheel will be useful for their everyday work in the plant, as these contractors work hand-in-hand with the engineers and support staff of GMEC to help ensure smooth and continuous operations. The gifts were also tagged in creative names, which were:
Sisidlan ng Tiyaga – a work bag Rain, Rain, Go Away – raincoat Hey Sunshine – cap Health is Wealth – vacuum flask Safety Ko, Priority Ko – flashlight
The contractors also got a chance to bring home the jackpot prize, a watch, and a gift box. Aside from these, they also got 10 kilos of rice, an additional token for their hard work and dedication to the company.
“Para sa amin po, ginagawa lang po namin yung trabaho namin,” said one of the contractors while thanking the employee volunteers. “May makuha man po kami o wala, ayos lang po para sa amin. Pero maraming salamat po dahil nare-recognize po kami, mas pagbubutihin pa po namin yung trabaho po namin,” he said.
Another contractor who has been with GMEC for almost a decade also shared, “Matagal na po ako sa GMEC, nakapagpa-graduate na po ako ng dalawang anak ko habang nagta-trabaho rito. Malaking bagay po sa amin na nakakapag-trabaho kami rito.”
One of the volunteers, on the other hand, validated the efforts of all the contractors they have chosen. “Kung wala kayo rito, mahihirapan kami sa mga trabaho namin, kaya wag niyong isipin na hindi importante yung trabaho ninyo o hindi ninyo deserve itong mga regalo namin.”
Project Saysay is a flagship employee-led volunteer program of GMEC’s Corporate Social Responsbility Team, which encourages its employees who are celebrating their birthdays to share their celebration by giving back to the community. “Imbes na kami ang regaluhan ngayong birthday namin, kami ang magbibigay ng regalo sa inyo,” said another employee volunteer.
GMEC employs various contractors that contribute their expertise to the plant to ensure its seamless operations and maintain its standards in terms of safety and performance. The gifts given to them are more than just essential items that they can use for their daily work, but also a reminder of the wonderful gift of reciprocation.
