Hundreds of Fernandinos have been blood typed for free as the Local Government of San Fernando, through its City Health Office, hosted today the Regional Launching of the “Type ng Bayan” program.
This is a free blood typing project of President Rodrigo Duterte and DU30 Cabinet Spouses Association, in partnership with the Department of Interior and Local Government and Department of Health, which seeks to help every Filipino determine their blood type so they can easily identify and match with possible donors.
City Health Officer Dr. Eloisa Aquino said through this project, the city has received 180 testing kits which can accommodate 1,800 individuals.
All Fernandinos who underwent blood typing were also issued with Identification cards.
“Nakasaad sa mga IDs na ito ang kanilang blood type. Magagamit nila ito upang madaling makahanap ng donors o kaya bilang katunayan kung gusto nilang mag donate ng dugo,” Aquino explained.
In an interview, Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago urged Fernandinos to avail the free blood typing as he stressed the importance of knowing one’s blood type particularly in addressing medical issues like blood transfusion and donation.
“Sa pamamagitan nito ay madaling maisasalba ang ating buhay sa oras ng pangangailagan at maaari din tayong makatulong sa pagligtas ng buhay ng iba,” Santiago added.
Also present during the launching were Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and Councilor Angie Hizon, Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial and Undersecretary Hermingildo Valle, DOH 3 Regional Director Leonita Gorgolon, Head of MSGC for Health Dr. Leticia Yap, and members of the DU30 Cabinet Spouses Association led by Executive Director Ricky Reyes.
