Widus International Leisure (WILI) is set to open up a foundation this year.
Daesik Han, president and chief executive officer of Widus, said a foundation will help them fulfill their corporate social responsibilities better.
“We’ve been talking about this over years that when a company is growing, it is better to put up a foundation to execute our responsibilities to the community in a professional way,” Han said.
Han said the Philippines has good manpower resources, but would be put to waste if they will not be educated.
“It is sayang to see the demographics of the Philippines. There are a lot of good manpower here but they’re not very well educated. If they are only educated, the country will be much stronger than what it is right now,” Han said.
Last year, Widus Hotel and Casino has rehabilitated the Angeles City Special Education School. As part of their corporate social responsibility, Widus rehabilitated the Special Education Center of the Angeles City Elementary School. The hotel has spent close to a million pesos to build better structural frames and put new roofing for the SPED Center’s play area.
Under Widus’ rehabilitation project, specialized tables and chairs were fabricated while classroom repairs, roofing, and repainting were also done.
“Once we have put up the foundation this year, we will do more for the community,” Han said.
