Will the Angeles City government push the construction of a P360 million sports complex amid the brouhaha that attended the P1.2 billion loan from the Development Bank of the Philippines? Will the proposed Angeles sports complex serve its purpose? Or will it die a natural death like the Pampanga Sports Complex, a decaying monumental white elephant that was putting maintenance funds into waste?
Councilors Jae Flores and Jay Sangil had been opposing the construction of the sports complex and the P560 million new City Hall preferring to have the funds redirected to the improvement of the Ospital ning Angeles (ONA). Former Angeles Vice Mayor Vicky Vega, who was eyeing to reclaim her old seat, echoed the views of the two city dads saying “there is no need for both sports complex and a new city hall.”

seeks to develop a comprehensive youth and sports development program for Angeles City and its youth. Angeles City had produced champions if the regional athletic meet before and Pogi Lazatin would like to maintain the winning form of Angeles athletes.
Government officials had been eyeing the Clark Freeport Zone as site of a training facility for Filipino athletes. A sports complex will soon rise in Clark, now teeming with sports activities. What we are saying here is that there is no need for the Angeles Sports Complex.
Pogi Lazatin said we have to discover athlete students with potential in the field of basketball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming, track and field and so on. Pogi Lazatin said we can do this by tapping schools to integrate sports and development program into their curriculum to discover athlete students.
