1 killed, 19 arrested in PNP’s ‘OTBT’ operation in Balanga

BALANGA CITY – An alleged notorious drug pusher was killed in an encounter with police operatives while 19 others were arrested during the “1-time focus” operation by the Balanga City Police Office last Friday night.

Police Supt. Byron Allatog, the chief of police here said he just implemented their own local version of the “one-time big-time”(OTBT) operation or simultaneous operations.

The focus operation, Allatog added, resulted in the arrest of 8 drug pushers and death of one pusher, who was just recently released from prison of same offense in eighth (8) different simultaneous drug operations in the city.

Further, the synchronized operation resulted also in the confiscation of 2 illegal-firearms and sachets of suspected shabu, and lastly, the arrests of 11 Wanted Persons under the PNP LOI “Manhunt Charlie.”

With the current flagship of the current administration, that is, to clear all drug affected barangays in the country; the LGU-Balanga City, PDEA, DOH, Local PNP, and the other government sectors is bent in clearing the remaining Drug Affected Barangays of the city.

Balanga City Mayor Francis Anthony Garcia had recently just approved a total of P2 million budget to support the “Bahay Pagbabago” -Barangay-Based (community based rehabilitation) to fully help and reform all persons who uses drugs (PWUD) in the city in parallel with actual PNP operations to fully achieved the city’s status being a “DRUG CLEARED” City under the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Regulation No. 3 series of 2017 before the year ends.

The one day, 1-Time Focus Operation was hatched and implemented by the Balanga City Police Station supported by the Bataan Police Provincial Office led by OIC provincial director Senior Supt. Marcelo Dayag, PIB & DEU and PDEA-Bataan focusing on all old & newly identified pushers to further minimize the drug flow in the Barangays.

Relatedly, the 1-Time Focus Operation also let to the recovery of six mountain bikes that were stolen in Balanga City by one of the arested drug-suspect.

The recovered mountain bikes are due to be returned to rightful owners. An additional Theft cases will be filed against the suspect.

All arrested drug suspects are now facing cases in violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and Republic Act 10591 (Illegal Possession of Firearms and Ammunition) while the arrested wanted persons to be brought to court of origin and face trial.
