10,000 jobs up for grabs in Central Luzon Labor Day Job Fair

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — About 10,000 local and overseas careers will be up for grabs during the 117th Labor Day Job Fair in Central Luzon.

Anchored on the theme “Pagpupugay sa Manggagawang Pilipino,” it will be held at Kingsborough International Convention Center in the City of San Fernando.

“This year’s Mega Job Fair is aimed at the more vigilant redress of the issues of unemployment, underemployment and jobs mismatch in the region,” Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Zenaida Angara-Campita said.

“Having close partnership with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority as well as with our allied-partner agencies, we are positive that more Filipinos will land a good job this year,” Campita added.

About 6,972 careers will be available for local employment from 64 participating companies.

DOLE is expecting around 3,597 job vacancies for overseas employment from 16 recruitment agencies, as processed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.

Most job vacancies for local employment include production operators, customer service representatives, collection specialists, cashiers, retail / sales agents, accounts specialists, service crews, utility staff, baggers and skilled sewers.

On the other hand, most vacancies available for overseas employment include factory workers, carpenters, nurses, machine operators, welders, house workers, waiters and waitresses, masons, bakers and housekeepers.

“I invite our jobseekers to participate in the job fair and ready themselves with their proper business attire, bring multiple copies of resumes, school credentials, certificates of employment, clearances, photos, passport for overseas applicants, and other pertinent pre-employment documents needed by employers,” Campita added.

Participating jobseekers may avail themselves onsite of various pre-employment services from DOLE’s partner agencies such as Social Security System, PhilHealth, Philippine Statistics Authority, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

To render efficiency in filling-up the Skills Registration System Forms, jobseekers may already pre-register at the nearest Public Employment Service Office in their respective areas prior to May 1.

This year’s Job Fair shall be conducted alongside two other significant activities. First is the groundbreaking ceremony of the DOLE-OFW Hospital at the PEO Compound in barangay Sindalan, City of San Fernando and a visit of DOLE Officials and other guests to the National Government Administrative Center in New Clark City.

Aside from Pampanga, as similar Job Fair will be held at Waltermart in Cabanatuan City also on May 1, Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in Malolos City on April 30, and Municipal Covered Court in Bocaue, Bulacan on May 2.
