100MW solar farm to rise in Capas

A 100-megawatt solar farm will soon rise in Capas, Tarlac.

Lex Phil International Corporation Chairperson Su Eon Kim signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the municipal government and Tarlac II Electric Cooperative (TARELCO II) for the P10-billion renewable energy project located in barangay Bueno.

Kim highlighted the job opportunities and revenue brought about by the establishment of the facility in the future.

“Capas was selected as the project site due to its strategic location,” he explained.

For his part, Mayor Roseller Rodriguez said the municipal government is open to accommodating Lex Phil International Corporation provided it complies to all laws and municipal ordinances.

“We will give assistance for the smooth establishment of this project because this is a welcome investment in our municipality. It can also help in solving the energy problem in our country,” the local chief executive noted.

Under the MOU, the local government unit (LGU) shall assist the company in securing all necessary building, construction and operational permits.

Meanwhile, TARELCO II Board President Aubrey Alimurung backed the solar project which could positively impact the energy source, employment and revenue in Capas.

“We are welcoming this investment which can help the LGU and the cooperative. You know, we should have a lot of investors. The more supply, the lesser the demand which could lead to cheaper electricity price,” she stated.

Alimurung added that they are open for a joint venture with the company.

TARELCO II, as stated in the MOU, will provide the company power load, power projections, and other related data needed in the proposed construction of the solar power plant. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
