3 alleged Akyat-Bahay robbers killed in Angeles

ANGELES CITY — Three suspected members of a robbery break-in gang were gunned down by the police during a brief exchange of gunfire along Texas Street,  Villa Sol Subdivision, Barangay Anunas, here Saturday dawn.

Police Colonel Narvin Mangune, acting director of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO), said only one of the slain suspects have been identified as Jerry Maglente, 26, and resident of Bgy Pulung Maragul, who occupies the No. 2 slot in the police list of most wanted persons in the city.

The two others, Mangune said, remain unidentified as of press time.

Residents in the community sought police assistance after they noticed the presence of suspicious-looking unidentified motorcycle-riding men in the village.

Responding cops spotted the suspects along Texas Street while carrying a flat screen computer monitor.

When flagged down, one of the suspects was positively identified by the police as among those included in the list of wanted persons with standing warrant of arrest for robbery break-in case.

Maglente, police said, pulled a handgun and fired towards the policemen that prompted the lawmen to fire back, fatally hitting three riders. One of the suspects fled and made a good escape under cover of darkness.

Police recovered two Yamaha Mio motorcycles, a 9 mm caliber pistol and two caliber 38 revolvers and sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and marijuana near the bodies of the fallen robbery suspects.
