Camp Olivas — Three suspected drug peddlers have died during armed encounter with police in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on Friday.
According to the report of PCol. Jaime Santos, Acting Provincial Director of Nueva Ecija PPO, the Cabanatuan police conducted a buy bust operation at Mampulog Road, Barangay Bantug Norte, Cabanatuan City. The suspects identified as Daniel Lopez; Jared Asuncion and Jake Elvambuena engaged the authorities in a shoot out which resulted to their deaths.
Found at the crime scene were one caliber .38 revolver; one caliber .45 pistol; one piece hand grenade; six pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 15.16 grams worth P103,088; and one piece plastic sachet of suspected dried marijuana weighing 0.5 grams amounting to P500.
Records show that suspect Elvambuena has a standing warrant of arrest under Criminal Case No 22605-18 for murder duly signed by Hon. Maximo B. Ancheta Jr., Acting Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 87, Gapan City, Nueva Ecija.PBGen Valeriano De Leon, PRO3 Regional Director said that PNP PRO3 is bent on wiping out all forms of illegal drugs in the region.
