CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A total of 33 barangay health workers (BHWs) in Pampanga received livelihood kits from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as part of its Pangkabuhayan sa PagBangon at Ginhawa (PBG) program.
All beneficiaries received sari-sari store package worth PhP5,000 each.
DTI Provincial Director Elenita Ordonio said this program is a livelihood seeding and enterprise development assistance to micro entrepreneurs whose businesses were severely affected by the community quarantines imposed due to the coronavirus disease crisis.
“The livelihood kit turnover is through the initiative of Congresswoman Angelica Natasha Co of the BHW Partylist. This is to pay tribute to our frontliners to include Barangay Health Workers, who are also risking their lives to be of service to their community,” she said.
Ordonio added that the program will not stop in the turnover of livelihood kit, but will include monitoring and follow up programs of DTI to include seminars and trainings.
“We will still continue to provide assistance to these start-ups in building their capabilities as entrepreneur, and also assist them in securing business permits and licenses,” the director said.
She added that the payback is not in the form of cash but rather their participation and support to DTI programs and services.
Beneficiaries include BHWs from the cities of Angeles, San Fernando, and Mabalacat; and the municipalities of Apalit, Arayat, Bacolor, Floridablanca, Lubao, Macabebe, Mexico, San Luis, San Simon, Sta. Rita, and Sto. Tomas.
