ANGELES CITY — “This marker is more than a monument. It is a tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and unity of the Kapampangan people, our Ayta brothers and sisters, workers, and leaders who fought to reclaim Clark for the Filipino nation,” said AGOS lead convenor Alex Cauguiran as the advocacy group sought broader government support for the installation of a National Historical Marker inside the Clark Freeport.
Cauguiran is set to address the Angeles City Sangguniang Panlungsod during its regular session on Tuesday, July 14, in support of a resolution endorsing AGOS’ request for the historical marker.
According to AGOS, the marker aims to honor the contributions of Kapampangans, Ayta communities, workers, and local and national leaders whose collective efforts helped return Clark to Philippine control and paved the way for its transformation into one of the country’s premier economic and investment hubs.
The proposed marker would serve as a permanent reminder of Clark’s rich history and the shared struggle that led to its rebirth as a center of growth and opportunity.
The appearance before the Angeles City council follows AGOS’ recent presentation before the Mabalacat City Sangguniang Panlungsod, where the group likewise secured support from local officials for the proposed installation of the historical marker inside the Clark Freeport.
AGOS has invited the public, heritage advocates, and civic leaders to attend the council session and support the initiative to preserve an important chapter in Philippine history.
