500 donors support blood letting in Bulacan

Blood pours at the provincial gym of Bulacan after hundreds of Bulakenyos donated blood during the blood letting program, a joint project of the provincial government of Bulacan and Damayang Filipino Movement Inc. (DFMI) held at the Capitol Gymnasium on Friday in the City of Malolos.

The program dubbed as “Dugong Filipino, Dugong Alay ng Bulakenyo” was initiated by Vice Governor Daniel Fernando through its Damayang Filipino Movement Inc. since 2008.

It was a birthday present of Vice Gov. Fernando where some 500 blood donors from different parts of the province graced the celebration by giving the “ gift of life” as they donated more than 200 blood bags for his yearly blood-letting drive campaign.

Fernando, who is also the founder of Damayang Filipino Movement, Inc. said that the donees were from the personnel of Provincial Local Government Unit, Armed Forces of the Philippines of the Philippine Army ((AFP-PA), Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), RAM Guardians Brotherhood, Bantay Bayan Higway Patrol Group, scholars, Guardians Anti-Crime, Rescue 117, Scout Riders Club, Bulacan Medical Center, Provincial Health Office-Public Health, Tau Gamma Phi, Barangay Officials, Youth Sector, Non-Government Organizations, Private Sectors and DFMI among others.

Further, the bloodletting activity was able to encourage 500 screened participants wherein more than 200 blood bags were collected and turned over to the Bulacan Medical Center.

The vice governor thanked his long-time partner in public service– Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado who also graced the event for his unwavering support.

“Masaya po ako sa aking birthday dahil nakita ko ang buong suportang ipinagkaloob ng aking mga kababayan at kaibigan lalo na ang Pamahalaang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan sa pangunguna ni Gob. Willy Alvarado at ng mga bokal,“ Fernando said.

Fernando said that the Damayang Filipino foundation will always be ready to serve the needs of Bulakenyos particularly in the field of health care, livelihood opportunities and education.
