50K poor households in AC to benefit from SAP

A total of 50,297 poor households from 33 barangays will be the beneficiaries of the government’s Social Amelioriation Program (SAP), Angeles City Social Welfare and Development Officer Joy Duaso said.

She bared this during her Facebook live interview via Lingkod Bayan ni Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. on April 16, 2020, hosted by Deng Pangilinan and Rudy Simeon.

She said the beneficiaries will be the “senior citizens, Persons with Disabilities (PWD), pregnant women, solo parents, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW), indigenous people, homeless, farmers, fisherfolks, self-employed, informal settlers, and those under a No Work-No Pay arrangement.”

She further said that the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) verified the qualified beneficiaries from the come-up list of beneficiaries submitted by the barangay officials.

A Social Amelioration Card (SAC) will be distributed to identified beneficiaries through a house-to-house visit.

“All 33 barangays in the city were assessed by our social workers. With the coronavirus disease (COVID 19) outbreak, our assessment on SAP beneficiaries was done in a way that would really cater to our marginalized, or those who need it the most,” she added.

Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1 on social amelioration released the defined amount each family would be receiving based on the regional minimum wage, where each family in Central Luzon would receive P6,500 cash aid for the next two months, covering the month of April and May 2020.
