6,720 indigents get cash aid, free PhilHealth

Mexico – Thousands of Kapampangan indigents received cash assistance amounting to P1,344,000 and free PhilHealth member data records (MDRs) under the program “Alaga Ka, para sa Maayos na Buhay.”

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda together with Board Members Rosve Henson, Ananias “Jun” Canlas, Nelson Calara, Olga Frances “Fritzie” David Dizon and Gerome Tubig led the distribution held separately in the towns of Mexico, Sta. Ana and Apalit recently.

Pineda said there were at least 6, 720 people, most from the three towns, who benefited from the distribution activity.

“Itong ‘PhilHealth ninyo ay espesyial kaya wag n’yo lang itago, gamitin nyo. Magpacheck-up kayo para naman makaiwas kayo sa sakit,” the governor said in a speech wherein she reiterated her objective to extend help to the poorest of the poor.

She urged the recipients of the program to avail of the basic health services from 11 district and provincial hospitals in the province.

Pineda also appealed to the elders to immediately avail of their senior citizens card, which is guaranteed as PhilHealth Membership card automatically.

During the distribution, Mayor Teddy Tumang of Mexico recognized Governor Pineda’s efforts and support for the poor residents of his town.

Sta. Ana Mayor Ross Gamboa also thanked the governor for prioritizing the welfare of the marginalized sectors by providing appropriate healthcare.

The lady governor was likewise lauded by Apalit Mayor Peter Nucom for her passion to grant free medication and hospitalization to every kapampangan.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) officer Elizabeth Baybayan said the recipients of the cash aid and PhilHealth MDRs were identified through the national household targeting system for poverty reduction by the PSWD.
