7 micro enterprises in Gerona benefit from DTI NSB program

TARLAC CITY — About seven micro enterprises in the municipality of Gerona benefitted in the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB) program of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac.

NSB provides qualified individuals with livelihood kits to restore or improve their businesses.

DTI Tarlac Business Development Division Chief Zaida Garibay said barangay Sembrano was chosen in consultation with the municipal government while the seven beneficiaries were evaluated in partnership with the Punong Barangay.

“We have NSB program because one of the goals of the government is to increase entrepreneurship in the country,” she said.

“Majority of the businesses are in the urban areas but our government envisions barangays having considerable number of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs),” Garibay added.

Mayor Eloy Eclar expressed his gratitude to DTI for always supporting the municipality.

“This opportunity is a big help for our MSMEs in Gerona,” he said.

To the beneficiaries, he advised them to use their livelihood kits well to make their business grow.

“Think of ways on how you could develop your businesses through these kits,” he added.

Beneficiaries will be continuously assisted by DTI Tarlac through the Negosyo Center Gerona.

NSB allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people.

Through the Barangay Development Councils, DTI capacitates barangay personnel in providing basic business advisory or information dissemination services in the locality.
