85 missing container vans found in Bulacan warehouse

85 out of alleged 105 container vans missing from the Port of Manila of the Bureau of Customs were found in a warehouse at Sterling Compound in Barangay Libtong, Meycauayan City, Bulacan during a surprised inspection on Monday afternoon.

Bulacan Police director Sr. Supt. Romeo Caramat Jr. said joint operatives from the Bureau of Customs led by Commissioner Isidro La Peña and Atty. Vener Baquiran, District Collector of Port Manila (POM) and the City Police of Meycauayan conducted an inspection in the said establishment around 2:30pm that led to the recovery of the alleged smuggled ceramic tiles inside the 85 container vans.

The BOC officials were surprised when they found the clamped tiles in the warehouse.

The contraband was released from the Asian Terminal Inc..

BOC officials are still conducting an investigation and search operation for the other missing container vans. –Eloisa Silverio
