Seniors and PWDs lead early turnout at mall-based voting center in SM City Tarlac

Senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) were among the first to cast their votes early this morning at the mall-based polling precinct at SM City Tarlac, as the local and national elections officially got underway.

Assisted by election volunteers, mall personnel, and designated priority lanes, doors to the polling center opened early. This initiative, part of the Commission on Elections’ (COMELEC) accessible voting program, aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for vulnerable sectors. Air-conditioned facilities, clear directional signage, seating areas, and dedicated assistance desks helped create a smooth and dignified voting experience.

Mall-based precincts are designed to reduce the strain of traditional crowded school-based polling places, especially for those with mobility challenges. Regular voters are expected to arrive throughout the day, with polls open until 7:00 p.m. COMELEC encourages all registered voters to proceed to their designated polling centers and bring valid identification for verification.
