ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – Good governance and consumer advocacy groups are pushing for the passage of a proposed ordinance that seeks to strengthen consumer rights by requiring greater transparency and accountability from public utility providers in Angeles City.
The measure, titled “The Angeles City Consumer Right to Utility Information and Transparency Ordinance,” is set for a committee hearing on Wednesday, July 22, at 3 p.m. at the Session Hall of the Angeles City Legislative Building.
Sponsored by Councilor Maricel Morales, the proposed ordinance seeks to guarantee consumers access to clear, accurate, and timely information on electricity and water services.
Representatives of Angeles Electric Corporation (AEC) and PrimeWater Angeles have been invited to attend the hearing and address concerns over service quality, utility rates, and billing practices.
AGOS Lead Convenor Alex Cauguiran urged Angelenos to participate in the committee hearing and share their experiences as consumers.
“This is an opportunity for consumers to make their voices heard. We encourage residents to attend and express their concerns about electricity and water services so the City Council can craft an ordinance that truly protects consumer rights,” Cauguiran said.
The committee hearing will gather inputs from consumers, utility providers, and stakeholders before the proposed ordinance is elevated for further deliberation by the Angeles City Council.
