BALER, Aurora – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) recognized four municipalities in the province of Aurora for their exceptional provision of public services using modern technology and efficient government procedures.
The towns of Baler, Dingalan, Dipaculao, and Maria Aurora were recognized as Digital Trailblazer awardees during the Ease of Doing Business Month celebration.
DICT Region 3 eGov PH project focal Wilson Censon said the municipalities were chosen based on their effective implementation and promotion of digital services within their communities.
“We assessed the local government units (LGUs) based on the number of indicators including the availability of online business permit applications, online payment systems, and the use of integrated barangay clearance systems,” he furthered.
The recognition encourages LGUs to embrace digital transformation to make public service delivery faster, more convenient, and more efficient for both citizens and businesses.
“The Digital Trailblazer award proves that digital transformation is possible even in rural areas when there is clear direction, sufficient technical support, and strong collaboration from local leadership,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, DICT continues to support LGUs by enhancing digital governance and expanding internet connectivity—especially in remote and coastal areas—to increase access to online services.
Among the programs include the digital transformation, Tech4ED centers, free Wi-Fi area establishment, capacity development training on digital services and cybersecurity, and initiatives to provide reliable internet to coastal communities. (CLJD/MAT, PIA Region 3-Aurora)
