ABUCAY, Bataan – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) held the Konsultasyong Sulit at Tama (Konsulta) caravan at Barangay Bangkal in Abucay, Bataan to bring its programs and services closer to the Ayta Magbukun tribe.
PhilHealth partnered with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) and the Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Abucay to provide primary care services to the community.
PhilHealth Bataan Head Edmond Manuel explained that the state firm assisted members and their dependents by amending records, registering them under the Konsulta program, and distributing Member Data Records and PhilHealth Identification Cards.
Meanwhile, the NCIP team issued notarized certifications to members of the tribe.
“PhilHealth advocates for a ‘Mabilis, Patas at Mapagkakatiwalaang PhilHealth’ in service and values,” Manuel emphasized.
The RHU Abucay conducted medical consultations to assess and profile the health status of the members and to ensure continued access to services under the PhilHealth Konsulta program, which includes prescribed diagnostic tests and maintenance medicines.
PhilHealth also carried out an information and education campaign on new and expanded benefits and the Konsulta package to raise members’ awareness, encourage health-seeking behavior through primary care, and ensure that no one is left behind in accessing health care.
By fostering strong collaboration among partner agencies, health care providers, and communities, PhilHealth aims to ensure financial risk protection for every Juan and Juana, leading to healthier and happier tribes and barangays. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
