TIBIAO, Antique — More than 100 banyeras (tubs) of tuna (tambakol) were hauled in by local fishers at Purok 1, Barangay San Isidro, in the municipality of Tibiao, drawing excitement from nearby towns and social media.
The sudden abundance of tuna is being closely observed by fish traders and fishing communities, especially from Cebu, as reports suggest similar fishing activity may reach their coasts next.
The catch highlights Antique’s growing role in the region’s fisheries production.
