CAPAS, Tarlac – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Monday, June 24, oversaw the destruction of ₱9.48 billion worth of illegal drugs at a private waste management facility in Barangay Cutcut II, Capas, Tarlac.

The operation, held at Clean Leaf International Corporation, involved the burning of over 1.3 million kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, many of which were recovered by fishermen from the West Philippine Sea, particularly off the coasts of Zambales, Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Cagayan.

The President was joined by Interior Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, as part of the administration’s intensified anti-drug campaign. The drugs were destroyed via thermal decomposition, in accordance with law and environmental regulations.

The event followed the President’s recent visit to PDEA’s national headquarters, where he called for stronger coastal monitoring and reaffirmed his government’s approach to addressing the drug problem—through enforcement, prevention, and rehabilitation.
