2,553 Candaba farmers receive emergency cash aid

CANDABA, Pampanga – A total of 2,553 farmers in this town received Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in partnership with the Provincial Government of Pampanga, to help them recover from the impact of Typhoon Carina.

One of the beneficiaries, Mang Eufrocino, 66, expressed his gratitude after receiving ₱5,625, which he said will help cover his maintenance medicines and daily household needs while waiting for income from his rice field.

The assistance comes as more than 70% of the town’s agricultural land was damaged by recent flooding. In addition to the ECT, Mang Eufrocino is also a regular recipient of free seeds and fertilizer from the provincial and local government.

To ensure their health is monitored, Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda encouraged farmers to seek free consultations at district hospitals in the province.

Vice Mayor-elect Thelma Macapagal extended heartfelt thanks to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, NDRRMC Chair and Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro, Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, and Vice Governor Pineda for their continued support to Candabeños.

Present during the distribution were DSWD Region 3 Director Venus Rebuldela, Board Member Atty. Ananias Canlas Jr., Special Assistant to the Governor Angelina Blanco, and PSWD Officer Fe Manarang.
