Bataan police operation leads former Anakpawis member to abandon CTG

BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The Bataan Police Provincial Office (PPO), in coordination with other police and military forces, conducted an intelligence-driven operation in Barangay Lamao, Limay, resulting in the withdrawal of support of a former communist terrorist group (CTG) member.

The returnee, identified as alyas “JR,” a 20-year-old resident of Sitio Paliparan, Barangay Lucanin, Mariveles, Bataan, and former member of Anakpawis, surrendered one caliber .45 pistol with one magazine and two rounds of ammunition as a sign of his full disaffiliation.

Bataan PPO Provincial Director Police Colonel Marites Salvadora said the operation forms part of the government’s whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict and strengthen community peace and security.

“The operation shows the effectiveness of intelligence-driven actions and sustained community engagement in encouraging individuals to abandon armed struggle and return to lawful society,” she said.

Salvadora urged remaining CTG members to return to the fold of the law and take advantage of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, which provides livelihood, financial, and psychosocial support to former rebels.

She emphasized that the Bataan PPO will continue working closely with partner agencies, local government units, and communities to promote peace, development, and lasting security across the province.

The successful operation reflects the government’s continuing commitment to address the roots of conflict while opening pathways for reconciliation, reintegration, and inclusive development in Bataan. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
