City Council hearing pushes CSF transport route review

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — The City Council’s Committee on Public Utilities has begun a review of the city’s Local Public Transport Route Plan (LPTRP), aiming to improve public transportation services and assess the need for additional routes for commuters.

The committee hearing, chaired by City Councilor Celestino “Tino” Dizon, examined the city’s existing transport route network, developmental routes, transport modes, operational cooperatives, and the implementation of traffic routing under the government’s Public Transport Modernization Program.

The hearing also tackled a proposed resolution urging Mayor Vilma B. Caluag to create a Technical Working Group (TWG) that would conduct a comprehensive study on the feasibility of adding new Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) routes in the city.

Dizon said the review seeks to ensure that the city’s transport system keeps pace with the growing mobility needs of residents.

“Layunin ng pagdinig na makalikom ng mahahalagang datos, pananaw, at rekomendasyon mula sa mga kinauukulang tanggapan at sektor upang matiyak na ang ating sistema ng pampublikong transportasyon ay magiging mas episyente, ligtas, maayos, at tumutugon sa lumalaking pangangailangan ng ating mga Fernandino,” Dizon said.

The councilor said the proposed TWG would evaluate transport demand and recommend possible route expansions based on technical studies and consultations with concerned agencies and transport stakeholders.

Representatives from government offices, transport groups, and other stakeholders attended the committee hearing and presented recommendations on improving the city’s public transport network.

The City Council said the review forms part of its efforts to strengthen transport planning, improve commuter access, and support safer and more efficient public transportation in the City of San Fernando
