MAGALANG, Pampanga — Magalang Mayor Malu Lacson on Tuesday urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information on social media regarding the alleged presence of nuclear waste in Barangay Navaling, saying the municipal government has yet to receive official reports from national authorities.
In a statement, Lacson emphasized that public safety remains the local government’s top priority but stressed that decisions and public advisories must be based on verified facts.
“Public safety is non-negotiable. We owe our people the truth—complete, official, and supported by science. We will act on facts, not fear,” Lacson said.
The mayor clarified that despite claims circulating online about “confirmed nuclear waste” in the village, the Municipality of Magalang has not yet received the Final Search Warrant Implementation Report or the official laboratory findings from the competent national government agencies.
She appealed to residents to await the results of the ongoing investigation and avoid drawing conclusions until the concerned agencies release their official findings.
Lacson said the municipal government will continue to coordinate closely with national authorities and assured residents that any verified information affecting public health and safety will be disclosed promptly.
