BALANGA CITY — Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) hosted Wednesday the fifth leg of the ASEAN Campus Forum of Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 3.
About 350 college students converged as officials from PIA, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and Department of Social Welfare and Development discussed the Political-Security, Economic, and Socio-Cultural community pillars of ASEAN or Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Moreover, a representative from National Economic and Development Authority discussed the salient points of AmBisyon Natin 2040.
“ASEAN aims to build a peaceful and unified community among the 10 member states,” PIA Regional Director William Beltran said.
Beltran encouraged BPSU students to uplift one another and develop the welfare of the community by recognizing and strengthening ASEAN.
During the forum, a number of DTI’s Kapatid Mentor Me graduates likewise shared their respective success stories to students and gave away their own Galing Bataan products to those who actively participated in the discussions.
Prior to BPSU, PIA conducted ASEAN Campus Forums in Tarlac State University, Central Luzon State University, Aurora State College of Technology, and Tarlac Agricultural University.
Other educational institutions it will visit this year include Ramon Magsaysay Technological University, Pampanga State Agricultural University, and Bulacan State University. (CLJD/MJSD-PIA 3) — Mar Jay S. Delas Alas
