CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – “ A concert that should not be miss”
The upcoming concert of Pinoy Folk-Rock legends Coritha, Lolita Carbon (of Asin) and Heber Bartolome of (Banyuhay) dubbed as “ Pamaskong Handog ng Lungsod ng Malolos at ng Philstar Properties– Gabi ng OPM” will be a concert to remember , according to Pinoy Rock Icon Lolita Carbon, the guitar strumming vocalist of the iconic environmental Pinoy Rock group “Asin”.
Carbon, who has already performed several times in this historic capital city said she always feel a rare kind of nostalgic feeling every time she plays in Malolos.
“Malolos is a highly revered city.
The three Pinoy folk rock legends ( Coritha, Lolita Carbon and Heber Bartolome) — will serenade this historic city and bring back nostalgic sounds in a rare concert at the Tikay-Morato Concert Venue inside the 1st Malolos Industrial City in Barangay Tikay here.on December 17.
It will be held at the back of Shakey’s Malolos along McArthur highway.
City Mayor Christian D. Natividad said the concert will feature the signature songs of Coritha, Lolita Carbon of the group ‘Asin’, and Heber Bartolome of the group ‘Banyuhay\ whose popularity peaked during the late 70s when disco music started to dominate the airwaves.
“The music of these iconic folk legends will remind residents of Malolos – the birthplace of democracy in Asia and Africa – of their great heritage and the importance of love for country and fellowmen,” Natividad said.
“Madidinig natin muli ang musikang nagpa-alab ng ating pagka-Pilipino noong panahon na nababalot na takot ang ating Inang bayan. Ito’y hindi lamang pagpapaalala ng pagka-makabayan kundi pati ng diwa ng pagmamahalan na angkop sa nalalapit na kapaskuhan,” the mayor said.
Natividad, a lawyer whose stress-reliever is jamming with his brother’s band, said the concert’s front acts will feature local Bulacan bands and talents, as a tribute and early recovery of Pinoy Rock legend Joey “Pepe” Smith who recently suffered a stroke.
Eric Illescas, one of the sponsors and proprietor of Hap Chan and Shakey’s in Malolos, said the concert aims to make younger generation acquainted with classic OPMs and make them proud of being citizens of the Republic thru this kind of music.
Aside from the City Government of Malolos and Philstar Properties, the concert is also jointly sponsored by the Bulacan PNP Press Corps, Rotary Clubs of District 3770, MetroNEWS, Jaycees, Mighty Corporation, San Miguel Beer and San Miguel PureFoods. -EMIL G. GAMOS
