TARLAC CITY — Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will partner with different government agencies for the provision of housing and scholarship to agrarian reform beneficiaries.
“We will focus in converging with other agencies (such as) Technical Education and Skills Development Authority which has allocated 33 percent of its budget for the scholars of agricultural workers amounting to Php500 million,” Agrarian Reform Acting Secretary John Castriciones said during Wednesday’s 1st Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations Summit in Tarlac which was attended by approximately 500 farmers.
Meanwhile, Castriciones emphasized that they discourage the selling or mortgaging of Certificate of Land Ownership Award distributed by the government.
“DAR is willing to help them with their problems or reclaim their lands [if mortgaged] through programs and services offered,” he said.
These include agri-technology/agri-extension, business development services, common service facilities, credit and microfinance, agri-insurance (crops and livestock), rural infrastructure, and land tenure improvement and stability. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA 3)
