ANGELES CITY — Veteran public servant Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin scored a huge victory in the May 14 elections, defeating the wife of a three-term barangay chairman.
Lazatin, who was proclaimed at 8:00 a.m. on May 15, garnered 4,294 votes while his opponent, Tess Mamac, got 3,787 votes. Tess is the
wife of incumbent Barangay Captain Rodelio “Tony” Mamac, who was undefeated three times when he sought the post.
Lazatin, a former Angeles City mayor and Pampanga First District Representative, said “the election is over and it’s time to work.” He
thanked residents of Balibago for believing in him.
Lazatin said he would prioritize “health care because many people are sick.” “We will also prioritize prevention of illness,” he added.
Lazatin said he will focus on maintaining the peace and order in Balibago, a center of business and entertainment. He added that he
will make sure that many poor but deserving students will benefit from his scholarship program.
“There will be infrastructure development in Balibago as well,” said Lazatin. His children – Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo “Jon Jon” Lazatin, Angeles City Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin and Janet Lazatin – were present during his proclamation at the Gueco Elementary
School.
“We also commend the people and the authorities for the smooth and peaceful election,” said Lazatin.
