SASMUAN, Pampanga — House of Representative Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on Friday distributed relief goods to flooded barangays in the coastal area of this town, one of the towns in her district.
Arroyo, along with Governor Lilia Pineda, distributed 1,638 packs of groceries composed of 10 kilos of rice, 4 cans of sardines and 4 cans of corned beef in the flooded areas amounting to P583,062.48.
The newly elected House Speaker along with the Governor motored to Pampanga River in the coastal barangays of Batang First, Batang Second and Sebitanan in this town just to extend a helping hand for the flood-affected Cabalens.
These coastal barangays were flooded for weeks, brought by continuous rains in the province.
Arroyo requested the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to facilitate in giving 122 families from Batang First and 700 families from Sebitanan, kits with accessories amounting to P2,300 each, which they could use for their personal necessities.
Aside from Governor Pineda and Rep. Arroyo, DSWD Regional Director Gemma Gabuya; Board Member Fritzie David-Dizon; Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office head Elizabeth Baybayan; Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) Head Angie Blanco also assisted in the distribution of relief goods.
After the relief operation in Sasmuan, SGMA motored to Barangay Pinulot in Dinalupihan where she distributed relief goods to affected families.
Dinalupihan is one of the nine districts identified to be one of the areas worst hit by the recent typhoon.
