Pinedas do ‘big switch’

The Pineda mother and son tandem had just made a big switch: Vice Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda had filed his Certificate of Candidacy (CoC) for Governor, while Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda filed her CoC for Vice Governor at the provincial Comelec office on Friday, Oct. 12.

The Pinedas marched along with local chief executives and other supporters in the province going to the Comelec office before filing their CoCs.

The younger Pineda, during an interview with the media, said running for the gunernatorial position is a “big challenge” to him given the achievements of his mother as a three-term governor of the province.

“Isa po itong challenge para sa akin, dahil alam naman po natin na si Nanay (Governor Lilia Pineda) ay nagserbisyo ng maganda at maayos sa probinsya. Kung hindi man po natin mapantayan ay dapat higitan pa natin ang nagawa ni Nanay sa ating probinsiya,” Pineda added.

He said that he will continue the programs that the the current administration has been implementing.

“Patuloy po natin ipa-prayoridad ang mga nangangailangan, yung nangangailangan ng tulong lalo na ang mga may sakit at gustong mag-aral,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, former Cong. Juan Miguel Arroyo also filed his CoC for 2nd District representative. He was accompanied by his wife Angela along with daughters Mika and Monique.

Meantime, 3-term Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab filed her CoC as 2nd District Board Member.

Also filing their CoCs are re-electionist Board Members Cherry Manalo and Benny Jocson (1st district); Anthony Joseph Torres (2nd district); Rosve Henson (3rd District); and Nelson Calara (4th district).
