CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — San Juan High School placed first for the third consecutive year in the Consumer Welfare Month Provincial On-the-Spot Poster Making contest of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Grade 11 student Mark Jerome Vidal successfully defended his title by besting 18 other junior and senior high school students, taking home a certificate of recognition and Php5,000 worth of gift certificates.
Vidal will be representing for the second straight year Pampanga in the Regional contest where he is also the defending winner. Pampanga is aiming for its fourth consecutive regional crown.
“The contest is held annually by our agency at the provincial and regional level to highlight students as agents of consumer advocacy by employing their artistic talents to assure our nation of a new breed of aware and vigilant consumers,” DTI Provincial Director Elenita Ordonio said.
Charles Marius Chavez of Malpitic High School placed second and got Php3,500 worth of gift certificates while Cathlene Nunag of Information Communication Technology High School ended third and took home Php2,500 worth of gift certificates.
Entries were evaluated by a panel consisting of artist Erwin Dayrit and representatives from Department of Education and Philippine Information Agency based on Creativity-30 percent, Visual Impact-30 percent, Visual Impact-30 percent, and Adherence to the Rule-10 percent.
This year’s Consumer Welfare Month celebration carries the theme “Making Digital Maketplaces Fairer.”
