EdSa, Lazatin join forces to seek re-election in San Fernando

Incumbent City of San Fernando Mayor Edwin Santiago and Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin has joined forces in seeking re-election for their respective posts in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.

Santiago announced that his complete slate, “I Love San Fernando,” will file their respective certificate of candidacies on October 17, the last day of filing before the Commission on Elections.

While Lazatin will be the team’s vice mayoralty candidate, candidates for city councilors will include re-electionist councilors Ato Agustin, Celestino Dizon, Rufino Dumlao, Reden Halili, Nelson Lingat, Benedict Jasper Lagman and Harvey Quiwa; come-backing councilor lawyer Raul Macalino; and neophytes incumbent village chiefs Ariel “Buboy” Carreon of San Felipe and Tina Lagman of Saguin.

Mayor Santiago described his team as “formidable” adding that will run under the principle of “love and respect.” The team is allied with the Kambilan Party of incumbent Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda.

Santiago is set to face incumbent Dolores village chief Vilma Caluag in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, asked why he joined Santiago’s team, Vice Mayor Lazatin said “the city needs unity.”

“The people of San Fernando will be the big losers if I do not join the team. The city needs unity and my desire towards governance that is for the sake of the people could only be achieved as of this time through unity,” Lazatin said who has since ran as an independent candidate.
