DILG Tarlac holds Convergence and Disaster Resilience Dialogue

TARLAC CITY — Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) conducted a Provincial Convergence and Disaster Resilience Dialogue with local government units (LGUs) in Tarlac to upgrade the required efforts on disaster preparedness and mitigation.

“We have to empower and strengthen our (respective) Listo Teams because we do have no hold of natural calamities but we can mitigate the effects and our goal is to have zero casualty,” DILG Provincial Director Belina Herman told attendees.

“We are committed on implementing this so that LGUs would be able to identify the gaps and challenges during the early stages of the program implementation and provide timely solutions to them,” she added.

Each team is composed of the local chief executive, local disaster risk reduction and management (DRRM) officer, chief of police, fire marshal, DILG officer, local planning and development coordinator, and local social welfare and development officer.

Operation Listo was launched by DILG in 2014 to build and/or strengthen the alertness and readiness of the LGUs in responding to disasters.

This is pursuant to the agency’s mandate as Vice Chairperson on Disaster Preparedness of the National and Regional DRRM Councils.

It has three components namely Listong Pamahalaang Lokal which pertains to LGU disaster protocols and standards, Listong Pamayanan or community preparedness, and Listong Pamilyang Pilipino or household preparedness.
