‘Pupul ning Banua’ awards night 2019 fetes Angeleño achievers

Angeles City– This year’s ‘Pupul ning Banua’ awards night held on Thursday at Plaza Angel here has recognized 36 outstanding Angeleños who placed the city in the national and global map for exemplary display of talents. 


Pupul ning Banua meaning “Harvest of the Year” and  “Harvest from Heaven” is an annual celebration of Angeleño talent and ingenuity that has been awarded, honored or recognized nationally or internationally. A celebration and thanksgiving of good harvest for the year, a gift from the Almighty. 


City Mayor Ed Pamintuan, with wife Hermina, said the awards night is a gesture of pride and appreciation for the unending effort and commitment of Angeleños in promoting and preserving Angeles City’s culture. 


The awardees are culinary master Heinz Pelayo; theatre experts Jayson Pabalan, Uyat Artista and Jocson College CLDCAS; film guru Ferdinand Lapuz, literature swayer Michael Navarro; musical victor City College of Angeles Executive Chorale; fashion and beauty champs Joseph Carlos, Marlon Tuazon, Precious Angela Morales, Anthony Abuan, Francesca Taruc, John Paul Smith, Enji Dobluis and Gumbill Tarine; visual arts grandslammers Edu and Eduardo Perreras, Arnel Garcia, Jun Cruz, Fred Mabilangan, Edgar Nucum, Jojoy Zabala; and dance rulers Christina Pineda, Denise Jewel Alfonso, Fritz Baligad, Carlos Miguel Go, Fianna Marie Reambillo, Ann Therese Gaza, Kristal Anne Manalastas, Ashley Tuazon, Benjie Torno, Arvhin James Gaza, Anne Cyrielle Gaza, Juan Miguel Ordonez, Louie Ocampo and Lee Ruby Espinosa. 


Pupul ning Banua, now on its fifth year is an initiative of the City Government of Angeles through is Tourism Office headed by John Montances. 


“They have an inspiration not only the local government unit but for the people of Angeles. Gagawan taya pu ini balang banua as culminary activity of the Arts Month every February kening kaluguran tamung balen Angeles,” Montances said in his welcome remarks. 


Pupul ning Banua was hosted by educator, broadcaster, environmentalist Cecile Yumul and City Information Office head Archie Reyes.
