The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has proclaimed incumbent Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo as the mayor-elect after beating incumbent Vice Mayor Christian Halili in the mayoralty race here.
Garbo was proclaimed on Tuesday along with his Vice Mayor-elect Geld Aquino.
Garbo got 52,517 votes while Halili got 34,694.
Meanwhile, Garbo’s running mate Aquino garnered 52,062 votes, winning over former Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales who got 22,487 votes.
Winners for the city councilors include re-electionists Win-win Garbo and Dwight Morales; returning councilors Noel Castro and Liza Pineda; and newbies Jun Castro, Niño Delos Reyes; Cocoy Tiglao, Carlo Dizon, Timmy Dee and Jerry Magsino.
About six of the councilors belong to Garbo’s slate called Team MCG (including Garbo, Pineda, Jun Castro, Delos Reyes, Dizon and Tiglao), while the other four belong to the opposition Team Caluguran.
