URC executive hurt in CSF ambush

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO —  An executive of Universal Robina Corporation was wounded when waylaid by an unidentified gunman along MacArthur Highway, Barangay San Agustin here early morning Monday, Sept. 16.

Police Lt. Colonel Paul Gamido, city police chief, identified the victim as Nelson Pineda, 49, an employee of URC and resident of the said place.

The victim was on board a Mitsubishi sedan (UBN-858) when fired upon by unidentified suspect who was among the occupants of a black SUV in front of Colegio de San Sebastian here.

Gamido said the victim suffered gunshot wounds and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.

The victim, Gamido said, was on his way to report for work at Barangay Del Rosario when a black SUV overtook him, positioned beside his car and opened fire.  

The license plates of the SUV, Gamido said, is for another vehicle when checked with the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Gamido directed his men to investigate the incident thoroughly and bring justice to the victim.

“We will dig into this case deeper,” he said.

He assured the family of the victim that the investigation will soon be completed.

A hot pursuit operation was launched by the police against the fleeing suspects who were observed heading towards nearby Barangay Dolores.
