2 drug suspects fall in Calbayog sting ops

CALBAYOG CITY — Two suspected illegal drug traffickers including an employee of a local water district, were arrested by authorities following buy-bust operations at Purok 1, Barangay Nijaga here Thursday.

Police Lt. Colonel Joel Garcia, chief of Calbayog City police, identified the suspects as Raymund Randy Ricafort, 51, employee of Calbayog City Water District and Richard Babon, 29 of Bgy. Rawis in this city. 

Garcia said the suspects negotiated for the sale of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) with a poseur buyer through exchange of text messages. He said both agreed to close the deal and meet at Nijaga Park situated downtown here.

Before the drug bust, Garcia said agents from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and local police, positioned at the meeting place and waited for the pre-arranged signal from poseur buyer. 
The suspects surfaced past 10 p.m., where they met with undercover cop moments later. 

PDEA and police operatives rushed-up after the suspects handed a quantitative amount of shabu to poseur buyers leading to their arrest.

The arresting team found 54 sachets of shabu with a total weight of 10 grams amounting to P50,000 from the suspects’ possession.
Police also recovered from the suspects the dusted money used in the buy-bust.

The suspects were brought to PDEA headquarters for further investigation as violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act was filed against them.
