TARLAC Governor Susan Yap recently led the groundbreaking ceremony of the mungbean (mongo) trading post of Caut Farmers Field School Cooperative
in La Paz.
She was joined by Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David.
The trading post is under the Philippine Rural Development Project
[PRDP] and a program of the Department of Agriculture and the
Provincial Government of Tarlac. It is aimed to be a custom service
facility for the province of Tarlac.
The trading post intends to produce 78,000 kilograms of
quality mungbean seeds for planting and 428,000 kilos for food
consumption on its first year of operation and deliver to target
markets.
The total project cost is P15,927,196.58 including the
proponent’s group equity and civil works.
The project is set to acquire one unit 6-wheeler truck,
one unit 52 horse-power tractor, one unit tresher, one unit seed
cleaner, two units moisture meter, two units analog weighing scale,
100 pieces PVC pallet, 100 bobbins nylon thread, two units electric
bag sewer, two units trolley, 30,000 pieces plastic packaging, three
units hermatic cocoon, two units plastic sealer and 16,000 kilos of
seeds.
Gov. Yap said that the facility will greatly improve the
trading of quality mungbean.
“This will greatly help our mongo farmers as I am sure
that quality mongo will come out in this facility,” Gov. Yap said.
Also present during the groundbreaking were La Paz Mayor
Venus Jordan, Vice Mayor Lorna Manalo, Provincial Agriculturist Alicia
Cruz and Caut FFS Cooperative Chairman Alex Cancio.
