To promote the welfare of Fernandinas, the City of San Fernando, led by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago unveiled Monday the calendar of activities for this year’s National Women’s Month Celebration.
The National Women’s Month Celebration every March is part of the worldwide observance of the International Women’s Day in accordance with Proclamation No. 224 s. 1988, declaring the first week of March each year as Women’s week.
This celebration’s theme is “We Make Change Work for Women.” It highlights the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development.
Santiago, in his speech, encouraged his constituents and all sectors of the community to support the city’s activities and programs intended for women empowerment.
The unveiling was followed by a press conference wherein Councilor Cristina Lagman, Sangguniang Panlungsod Chairperson for the Committee on Women and Family, discussed the different livelihood trainings and health programs the city prepared for Fernandinas.
Economic Empowerment is one of the City’s major programs for women.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will also be assisting the city in its livelihood programs like the “Product and Process Improvement Training” and “Energy System Optimization Awareness Seminar.”
For the health welfare of Fernandinas, the City Health Office will conduct several activities including, launching of the breastfeeding and child-minding center and a unity prayer/mass for a Covid-19 and Breast Cancer Free city.
Meanwhile, Dr. Leticia Yap, Chairperson of Women’s Month Executive Committee 2020 and of the Local Council for Women, called for a more united and participative Fernandinas.
“Magkaisa tayo.
The Gender and Development (GAD) Office are encouraging all Fernandino women to participate and take part in the lined-up activities and programs for this year’s Women’s Month Celebration.
